Mountains of Love Doulas offers the care and support to help you embrace your birth with confidence.
Without a doula, expectant mothers often feel anxious, scared, and uncertain during one of the most important moments of their lives. You worry about not having the ideal, smooth birth experience you deserve and desire. The lack of a curated, knowledgeable birth plan that is advocated for in the moment can leave you feeling unprepared, unheard, and overwhelmed. This can mean missing out on the peace, support, and love that would help you fully embrace the birth of your baby.
I understand firsthand the feelings of overwhelm, trauma, and the impact of medical interventions during childbirth. I experienced these challenges in each of my own children’s births and know how important it is to feel supported and empowered throughout the process.
You yearn for the confidence and empowerment that comes with having a trusted doula by your side, guiding you through every step of this transformative journey. With a doula, you can rest assured that you’ll be well-informed in choosing your birth preferences and confidently provide informed consent for anything that arises during pregnancy and birth.

With over three decades in family advocacy and child development, my true calling as a doula was inspired by my own challenging birth experiences. From enduring traumatic interventions to navigating the NICU journey with my micro-preemie, I know firsthand the importance of having someone by your side during such a transformative time.
In 2020, I founded Mountains of Love Doulas with a mission to empower mothers through informed choices, emotional support, and trust in their instincts. When I’m not supporting clients, I enjoy the Colorado outdoors with my husband and four sons. I can’t wait to connect with you and help you rewrite your birth story with confidence and love.

Mary was such a great addition to our birth team. She was so compassionate and supportive not only as a doula but as a mother and friend as well! I did not know Mary before she became my doula but I know she will be a friend and great support person for the rest of my and my son's life.

Birth doulas are there for you from prenatal visits through labor and into your postpartum chapter, offering continuous support and care. Here's what you can expect from a doula's services:
“Research shows that best results occurred when the birthing person had continuous labor support from a trained doula - who was NOT a staff member at the hospital and not part of their social network. There was a 39% decrease in Cesarean when a doula was present, a 15% increase in a spontaneous vaginal birth, a 10% decrease in any use of medications, a 38% decrease in the baby’s risk of a low APGAR score, and a 32% decrease in the patient having a negative experience.” - Home - Evidence Based Birth®
Your healthcare provider and nurses focus on monitoring labor and treating complications. However, childbirth is an emotional experience with a long-term impact on a woman’s well-being. A doula helps guide your family through the birth journey, ensuring a positive and memorable experience. With a mix of counseling skills, doulas can equip their clients with tools to aid in communicating with their providers, teach physical support strategies, and explain pain-coping techniques. We are experts in fetal alignment and focus solely on your individual needs and desires. As privately hired doulas, we can support you in ways that medical staff do not.
Interesting Fact: Insurance companies are beginning to support and reimburse for doula services because they have found that doula significantly reduces medical interventions and the chance of cesarean sections.
Did you know that most health insurances in CO will pay for a breast pump?
The earlier the better really. We often recommend that you start your search in your second trimester, talk to and interview a couple of doulas, and determine who is the best fit for you. You deserve someone you feel an easy connection with and someone who you feel fits your personality and needs.
*If you consider yourself a planner or someone who experiences anxiety more often, hiring a doula earlier in your pregnancy might be more beneficial. This allows you to really form that trusting relationship and feel unconditionally supported as you navigate the emotional and mental ups and downs.
Some people believe that you only hire a Doula if you are having a vaginal birth. The reality is that babies are born in many different ways and there is no right or wrong way to go through this process. In the event of a scheduled cesarean section, we help you plan for the birth by knowing your options and help you create a birthing plan for a “comfort cesarean.” We will provide you with knowledge on what to do if you go into spontaneous labor before your scheduled date. Your doula with be with you upon check-in on the day of the c-section to make sure things run smoothly and help with bonding and the baby’s first feed after birth. When you get home from the hospital we are there to help you understand what to expect with your recovery as well as learn about taking care of your baby.
Midwives have medical training and can deliver babies in hospitals and in various settings such as home or birthing centers. Midwives provide cervical exams, and prenatal care and are there to catch your baby and assist in case of emergencies. Midwives are amazing and usually a doula’s preferred provider. Most are more holistic in the sense of not using medical interventions when not needed and some offer water births even in some hospitals.
Doulas provide emotional, physical, and education throughout your pregnancy, labor, and birth by providing nonmedical comfort measures. We provide options to help create your birth plan plus offer various tips on how to ripen the cervix and prepare your body for birth and more.
